DU PIONEERS HOCKEY CONTEST: Enter for the chance to win a pair of DU Hockey tickets! (Enter To Win)

DENVER (CBS4)– Many Colorado families are having a hard time heating their homes during this recent bitter cold snap because of a propane shortage.

Colorado Senator Greg Brophy, a Republican representing Wray, wants Gov. John Hickenlooper to declare a state of emergency to help those families cope with skyrocketing prices.

Many low-income families have already maxed out their heating assistance benefits for the season and they’ll need more help to keep warm throughout the winter.
