Avalanche Danger High In Colorado's Mountains

DENVER (AP) — Forecasters are warning of dangerous avalanche conditions in Colorado's mountains after as much as 3 feet of snow fell in some areas over the last 48 hours.

The Colorado Avalanche Information Center says the danger will ease through the weekend, but forecasters warn that backcountry travelers could easily trigger a destructive or deadly slide.

The center says the avalanche danger is high in the mountains of southwestern Colorado. The danger is considerable in some northern Colorado ranges.
