Weld County Deputies Investigating Stabbing At Oil Well Site

WELD COUNTY, Colo. (CBS4) – Deputies in Weld County are investigating an early morning stabbing at an oil well site.

According to the sheriff's office, early Thursday morning deputies responded to a report of a stabbing at an oil well site located near 22625 Weld County Road 64.

"When deputies arrived at the scene they discovered a male that had been stabbed several times around the neck and head region," the sheriff's office said in a statement.

A witness to the stabbing identified the suspect as a coworker named David Baldizan.

"As Deputies rendered aid to the victim and secured the crime scene they were able to locate and confront the suspect."

Baldizan was taken into custody without incident. He faces charges of first-degree assault and attempted first-degree murder.

"The victim and suspect were acquaintances and coworkers, although the specific motivation for the stabbing incident is unclear at this time."

The victim, whose name hasn't been released, is being treated for the stab wounds but his condition hasn't been released.
