Police Search For Man Who Tried To Lure Girls Into Car

DENVER (CBS4)- Police in Denver are trying to track down a man who tried to lure young girls into his car.

It happened in the area of West 8th Avenue between Julian and Irving, near Eagleton Elementary School.

"They were going to stop by my house but they were scared and they ran straight to the school," said Michael Williams, a relative of the victims.

Police said the girls were on their way to school about 8 a.m. Wednesday when the man standing next to a white older model Jeep motioned them over to the car. That's when he exposed himself to them and they ran away to the school for safety.

Williams is the uncle of one of the girls and a cousin of the other. He said the girls were lucky to get away.

"They were walking to school by themselves," said Williams.

When asked if he thought that was dangerous Williams answered, "Yes. I've been telling their moms since last year."

Parents of students at Eagleton Elementary School were concerned when they heard the news.

"I'm just freaked out. I don't even want to leave my kid's sight," said parent Demetria Santistevan.

"It's scary as a mom. I have an 11-year-old that goes to middle school. I don't even want him to walk to school any more," said parent Jessica Chavez.

The suspect is described as a middle aged Hispanic male with a slight mustache and beard stubble. He was wearing a white-tan jacket with green lining inside and dirty tan pants. He had a Spanish accent and the vehicle had damage and rust along the front and sides.

Police in Denver said finding the dangerous predator is a top priority.

"By him motioning over to the girls... that concerns us. By him exposing himself... that concerns us more," said Denver Police spokesman Sonny Jackson.
