Jury Selection Underway For Mother Accused In Sons’ Deaths
GRAND JUNCTION, Colo. (CBS4)– Jury selection is underway in a trial for a Grand Junction mother accused in the deaths of her two sons.
Police say Heather Jensen abandoned her sons for two hours while she did drugs and had sex with a man inside another car for more than two hours.
Two-year-old William and 4-year-old Tyler Jensen died from overheating in November 2012 near the Powderhorn ski area.
Jensen is facing two counts of criminally negligent homicide in the deaths of her children.
Jensen had been writing letters and someone had been placing them where the boys are buried with their father.
Robert Mathena, the step-grandfather of the boys, found the letters.
Mathena said some statements in the letters included, “I would never hurt you and I was a good mommy.”
“It’s just crap,” Mathena said.
