Police Warn Against Using Scalpers For Broncos Tickets

DENVER (CBS4) – Police warn that people buying Broncos tickets through a scalper could be paying a lot more.

Cassandra Holt drove six hours from Kansas for AFC Championship tickets.

"I'm in section 114, 20 rows up and I paid $350," said Holt.

Holt said that she always buys her tickets through brokers like Candy Lewis.

"It's very risky to buy on the Internet right now," said Lewis.

Last weekend Denver Police arrested 10 scalpers trying to sell 39 tickets on Craigslist.

Officers say it's illegal to sell tickets above face value in the city and county of Denver.

"There's a lot of danger. You have the very good possibility you're going to go to that stadium and try to get through and they're going to scan the barcodes, and they're going to say those tickets are invalid," said Lewis.

According to Lewis both buyer and seller can face fines.

"It makes me nervous, and so I either buy through Candy or Ticketmaster," said Holt.

It is suggested that people who have tickets but can't make it to the game try and sell them on safer sites like NFL Exchange where there are still tickets for sale.
