Westminster Police Search For Attempted Abduction Suspect

WESTMINSTER, Colo. (CBS4)- Police in Westminster are searching for a man who tried to lure a girl into his car.

Police said the 11-year-old girl was walking to the bus stop in the 12300 block of Huron Street in Westminster about 7 a.m. Thursday.

That's when a man approached her and tried to get her to go with him in his car.

The girl was able to run away and tell an adult.

The man is described as white, 5-foot-9 to 6 feet tall, about 40 years old with brown hair. He was last seen wearing a blue T-shirt and black jeans.

The vehicle he was driving was described as an older model Jeep Cherokee that was bluish-green in color with tinted windows and an unknown license plate.

The Westminster Police Department will have increased patrols in the neighborhood and near the bus top for the next several days.

Anyone who has seen the vehicle or man matching the description is asked to call Westminster Police Detective Judy Grigg at 303-658-4229.

Westminster Police want to remind parents to talk with their children about not approaching strange vehicles, and to run away and tell an adult as soon as possible.
