Guilty Plea In Hookah Bar Assault

DENVER (CBS4)– The man charged with assaulting a gay man outside a hookah bar pleaded guilty to the crime.

Tilo Sandoval appeared in court on Friday on charges of assault and bias-motivated crime.

Police said Sandoval assaulted two men outside Sam’s Lounge near Alameda Avenue and Zuni on Sept. 2, 2013 and that he did so because he thought they were gay.

Sentencing is set for next month. Sandoval faces up to nine years in prison for this case and another separate case of felony menacing.
