Pot Sales Still Going Strong 1 Week After Legalization

DENVER (CBS4)- Retail pot sales were still going strong one week after legalization in Colorado.

At least one Denver City Councilman is surprised by how smoothly the legalization process has gone.

"I was fearful of cannabis chaos but it didn't turn out. It was really a marijuana milestone," said Denver City Councilman Charlie Brown. "It was a fear of the unknown, how many people were going to be here, we expanded the number of stores open, we went from eight to 18 which helped because it spread the crowd around."

Brown said he's concerned about the impact of legalization on children.

He would like one percent of the tax revenue to go to educating young people about the possible dangers associated with marijuana use.
