Couple Writes Song To Remember Claire Davis

CENTENNIAL, Colo. (CBS4) - A couple who briefly spoke with the victim in the Arapahoe High School shooting while she was alive has written a song to remember her by.

Tom and Jamie Cangemi live with their child and dog Zoey a few blocks from the school, and say they Claire Davis petted Zoey outside their home when they were on a walk.

"She said 'Thanks' and I said 'Thanks for the love' and just walked away and finished our day and didn't think twice," Tom told CBS4.

After the tragedy happened at the school, Jamie realized the girl they talked to briefly was Davis.

The impact of that chance encounter compelled the two to share their gift of music with Davis' family-and the rest of the Araphoe community.

"We just started writing," they said.

Together they wrote "Our Little Warrior," named in part for the school's mascot the Warriors.

"All of the teenagers, take care of yourselves," Tom said his message is. "Take care of your hearts. Take care of your souls."

"Our Little Warrior" will be available soon on the iTunes store, and all of the money from the sales will go to the Arapahoe High School Community Fund Honoring Claire Davis.
