Police Investigate Apparent Shooting Deaths Of 2 Men

DENVER (CBS4) - Police are releasing few details in their investigation into the murders of two men on Thursday afternoon in Northeast Denver.

The shooting happened at approximately 3 p.m. at a home on the 1900 block of Trenton Street. Police say they were initially called to that address on the report of a burglary.

Police said Friday that the victims "apparently" died from gunshot wounds, but a complete report is expected from the Denver coroner.

Authorities described the crime as an "isolated case."

"It doesn't appear that we need to alert the community that this is an active shooter going around shooting folks," Denver Police spokeswoman Raquel Lopez said on Thursday night.

Neighbors told CBS4 a man lives alone in the home where the crime happened.

"He seems very nice. He speaks and talks and says hi to you and ask you how you were doing and that was it," Cheryl Isabelle said.

"It was very scary, because I've been living here for over 20 years and I've never had any problems out here. You hardly ever see any police officers," Isabelle said.

"I'm shocked. It's not the usual thing around here," another neighbor said. "It's very sad."
