Truck Rollover Causes Big Mess On I-70

IDAHO SPRINGS, Colo. (CBS4) – A fiery accident caused a big mess on Interstate 70 near Idaho Springs on Thursday, slowing down traffic in both directions.

A semi truck rolled over in the eastbound lanes by the twin tunnels.

The accident happened just before 9:30 a.m. and forced the eastbound lanes to close for several hours.

Drivers were forced to take an hour long detour.

Police say the driver of the truck took the curve too quickly.

Neither the driver nor his dog were hurt in the accident but the driver was cited for reckless driving.

Fire crews worked to extinguish the truck, which was still burning on its side.

Once the fire was out crews still had to get the truck turned upright and moved.
