The crime happened just after 3 a.m. on East Colfax Avenue near Verbena Street, west of Yosemite Street.

Police said they are looking for a black male who was wearing a white shirt and tan shorts.

Jesse Eihausen, a clerk at a store nearby, says the shots sounded very close.

"No yelling, there was no yelling. All you heard was 'pop, pop,' and then the other two 'pop, pops' sounded like they were running away. It sounded like not as loud, like they moved the gun in a different direction or something like that," Eihausen said.

Eihausen said there have been three shootings in the area since he started working there earlier this year.

Eastbound Colfax was closed at Valentia Street for several hours Monday morning as police examined the crime scene.
