BLACK FOREST, Colo. (CBS4) – There is a move to get rid of the fire chief in the town of Black Forest.

Organizers have started a petition drive calling for his immediate firing. It began when Fire Chief Bob Harvey said last week the devastating Black Forest wildfire last summer appeared to be intentionally set.

"I tell my board exactly what myself and a couple of other investigators that I engaged with, come up with are conclusions," said Harvey.

El Paso County Sheriff Terry Maketa disagrees and didn't like Harvey talking about the investigation.

"Absolutely shocked, especially since it is about 180 degrees from what the evidence shows according to the last briefing I had. And to make that public and let the public believe that is more damaging than anything," said Maketa.

The fight over the fire has also played out on Facebook.

The Black Forest Fire is considered the most destructive fire in Colorado history.
