FORT COLLINS, Colo. (AP) — J.J. Avila scored 21 to lead three players in double figures as Colorado State had few problems in a 66-52 win over Bethune-Cookman Wednesday afternoon in the CSU Challenge.

Jon Octeus had 14 points and Gerson Santo 12 for the Rams (5-2), who are enjoying a 10-game homestand, the longest ever for the school.

Malik Jackson had 11 for the Wildcats (2-5), who are just getting going on a 12-game road trip. They do not play at home until Jan. 11.

In a game that was otherwise evenly matched, Colorado State went 29 of 36 from the foul line while Bethune-Cookman was 10 of 11. The Wildcats were called for 26 fouls, the Rams just 11.

CSU rolled to a 35-21 lead at the half, courtesy of hitting 15 of 18 free throws and 13 points from Avila.
