Evidence-Tampering Charge Filed Against Springs Officer

COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. (AP) - Colorado Springs police say prosecutors have filed a felony evidence-tampering charge against an officer accused of stealing a blood sample taken from him after a suspected drunken-driving incident.

Police said Tuesday officer David Rosenoff also faces charges of driving under the influence and careless driving.

Authorities say Rosenoff, a 23-year veteran of the department, was off duty and driving his own car when he crashed Nov. 10.

Investigators suspected he was intoxicated, and he was taken to a hospital so the blood sample could be taken. After Rosenoff was taken home, the arresting officer noticed the blood sample was missing from his car.

No listed phone number could be found for Rosenoff and it wasn't immediately known if he had a lawyer.

Police say he's being placed on unpaid leave.
