LONGMONT, Colo. (CBS4) – Over the past two months a crime spree in Longmont has caused over $100,000 in damages.

The spree includes car break-ins, car thefts and garage burglaries.

Last week the windows of Griff Duncan's brand new BMW were smashed in.

"The car was 5 hours old. I literally had just bought it and the only place I drove it was from the dealership in Aurora to my house in Longmont," said Duncan.

His car was one of 60 vandalized in one night.

"As it turns out every other car on my block had similar kinds of damage to it," said Duncan.

Longmont police say a group of teenage boys are believed to be responsible for the series of vandalism across the city.

"We've identified about 14 kids. Some of them have been arrested multiple times," said Longmont Police Cmdr. Jeff Satur.

The boys, aged 14-17, have been connected to seven car thefts, 18 car break-ins, five garage burglaries and an overnight vandalism spree that caused $21,000 in damage.

"Four of them are in custody right now and they're staying in custody until we make sure they don't continue to vandalize the community," said Satur.

Police are working with the district attorney's office to try and make sure anyone arrested in connection to this crime spree will be held accountable.

"We are making arrests, we are locating people that are responsible, but we still need people's help to report suspicious behavior when they see it," said Satur.
