New Mexico State Outlasts Northern Colorado 67-63

LAS CRUCES, N.M. (AP) - Daniel Mullings scored 20 points to help New Mexico State hold off Northern Colorado 67-63 Wednesday night.

The Aggies (4-1) broke a tie early in the second half with a 12-4 surge to make the score 48-40. They led by as much as 11 during the second half.

Northern Colorado (2-1) would crawl back as Derrick Barden hit 3-pointer and Tim Huskisson made a free throw to cut the deficit to two with 2:49 to play.

New Mexico State answered with a pair of Mullings free throws and a Renaldo Dixon dunk, but a deep 3-pointer by Tevin Svihovec cut the deficit to one with 42 seconds left.

Following two missed free throws by Sim Bhullar, Tate Unruh couldn't connect on a potential go-ahead 3-pointer for the Bears. Mullings was fouled as he made a breakaway layup and hit the free throw to put the game out of reach.
