Complaint Against Colorado Gun Lobbyist Unsolved

DENVER (AP) – Colorado legislative leaders say there’s not enough evidence to settle a complaint against a gun lobbyist accused of threatening a lawmaker to influence her vote.

A bipartisan committee of six lawmakers unanimously voted Tuesday to write a letter of reprimand for Rocky Mountain Gun Owners lobbyist Joe Neville, and concluded there wasn’t enough information to determine whether he broke any rules.

Republican Rep. Cheri Gerou voted against new gun restrictions this year, but she says her constituents had received misinformation questioning her stance before the votes. She alleges Neville threatened her with negative campaign mailers after she confronted him about the information her constituents were getting.

Lawmakers criticized Neville for refusing to fully participate in the inquiry. Neville called the proceedings part of an “unconstitutional tribunal.”
