FORT COLLINS, Colo. (CBS4) - Crews on Thursday spent hours trying to flip a toppled over crane upright in a Fort Collins neighborhood.

The crane tipped over while trying to remove a tree from a backyard Wednesday near Lake and Robertson streets. The tree removal crew, Fine Tree Service, cannot explain how the 80,000 pound crane was lifted off its six wheels.

Nobody is hurt and no homes are damaged after the incident and there is minimal damage to the area. A few homes were evacuated overnight just as a precaution and the street is being blocked off until the crane is back upright.

"Maybe through modifications, whatever, at this point there's very little damage to everything. We're trying to keep it that way. We like to think we did some things right to keep it that way. It may be luck, I don't know. But we feel like we're in the best possible situation we could be," said Josh Fine, the Fine Tree Service president.

Two cranes from Denver arrived on the scene planning to strap up the fallen-over crane and get it back upright safely so that it can then drive off on its own.

The Fine Tree Service says they will look into how exactly the crane tipped over so it never happens again.
