THORNTON, Colo. (CBS4) – Two people are facing charges in the theft of a radioactive device in Thornton.

The portable gauge that measures soil compaction at construction sites was stolen earlier this month.

It’s made of radioactive sources that can emit higher than normal levels of radiation if mishandled.

Alexander King and Tasha Stapleton are under arrest and facing charges of stealing from a vehicle and trespassing to commit a crime.
