Underwear Thief Sentenced To 4 Years Behind Bars

GREELEY, Colo. (CBS4)- The man who pleaded guilty to stealing underwear from an apartment complex in Greeley was sentenced to four years in prison on Friday.

Joey Gallegos pleaded guilty to second degree burglary and theft of less than $500. He was immediately sentenced to four years in prison for the felony and one year in jail for the misdemeanor. The terms will be served at the same time in the Colorado Department of Corrections.

At the same hearing Gallegos, 39, also pleaded guilty to driving after revocation prohibited and was sentenced to 15 months in prison, also to be served concurrently.

Gallegos lived in an apartment building with his father on 30th Street in Greeley. A woman there said she was recently doing her laundry in the laundry room when she noticed Gallegos watching her.

The woman reported the man to Greeley police and officers executed a search warrant at Gallegos' apartment. That's where they found more than 350 items of women's undergarments, clothes and makeup cases.

Gallegos allegedly told police his interest in women's undergarments started at age 8. He said he stole them for sexual pleasure.
