Broncos Promote Wide Receiver Tavarres King

ENGLEWOOD, Colo. (AP) – The Denver Broncos kept rookie wide receiver Tavarres King from joining the Green Bay Packers by promoting him to their active roster Tuesday.

The Packers tried to lure King after Randall Cobb (knee) and James Jones (leg) were injured Sunday at Baltimore.

King, a speedy fifth-round draft pick from Georgia, made an early impression at training camp but faded and didn’t make the final cut. He spent the last six weeks on Denver’s practice squad.

He’ll be the fifth receiver behind Wes Welker, Demaryius Thomas, Eric Decker and Bubba Caldwell – sixth if you count tight end Julius Thomas, who has six TD catches.

The Broncos waived linebacker Adrian Robinson, who played in every game after being claimed off waivers from Philadelphia on Sept. 1.
