Public Funeral Held For Former Lt. Gov. Rogers
DENVER (AP) - A funeral is being held for former Colorado Lt. Gov. Joe Rogers.
The funeral at Rising Star Baptist Church in Aurora on Wednesday will be followed by burial at Fairmount Cemetery.
Rogers' casket was on display at the Capitol on Tuesday after he died suddenly last week at age 49.
Rogers was sworn in as Colorado's lieutenant governor in 1999 and served until 2002. He was the youngest American elected as a state lieutenant governor and Colorado's second African American lieutenant governor.
