Pot Tax Opponents In Colorado Report Free Weed

DENVER (AP) - Marijuana giveaways that sparked an unusual campaign finance report in Colorado have been given a value. The joints were worth $1,250, paid for by a lawyer funding the opposition campaign.

The watchdog group Colorado Ethics Watch filed a campaign finance against the No Over Taxation group. The group didn't disclose from where it got the marijuana cigarettes it gave away or what they cost.

The joints were given away at rallies in Denver and Boulder.

The opposition campaign field an amended report Tuesday valuing the joints at $1,250. They were donated by Denver attorney Robert Corry, who is helping lead the tax opposition campaign. Tax opponents say the pending 25 percent tax on retail pot would keep users in the black market.

Colorado Ethics Watch withdrew its complaint.
