Sisters Train For Rock N' Roll Marathon In Parents' Memory

DENVER (CBS4)- Runners across Colorado are training for the Sports Authority Rock N' Roll Marathon. Two sisters are part of a team running to remember loved ones.

Lucy and Georgia Kelly are training for a half marathon even though they wouldn't necessarily call themselves runners.

"Once I started going on trainings and really feeling the support system and enjoying the element of using your endorphins to help you get through things... it really became a big part of my life," said Lucy.

Their latest training session began before dawn with the "Team in Training" setting up tents and putting out water stations.

"We're celebrating our 25th anniversary with Team in Training this year," said one Team in Training spokeswoman.

Team in Training not only helps runners reach their goal, they also raise money for the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society. It's a cause that's close to the hearts of Lucy and Georgia.

"They've been really important to our family. They helped both my parents when they were undergoing chemo and treatments," said Georgia.

Their parents both developed non-Hodgkins Lymphoma within a few years of each other. Now the girls run in their parents' memory.

"I'll be thinking about both my parents and everything they went through and feeling them behind me," said Georgia.
