DENVER (CBS4)- Police in Denver are searching for two men who attacked a woman while she was walking in a neighborhood.

The attack happened near 7th and Gilpin last week. The victim told police that two men wearing masks grabbed her and tried to pull her into an alley at Franklin and Gilpin about 9 p.m.

She was able to fight them off.

Neighbors said they know the woman and where she was attacked was part of her routine when she walked home from work.

"There was this kidnap attempt that occurred literally right outside my garage," said neighbor Jim Lal.

"She looked very hassled, yes," said neighbor Alan McGregor.

McGregor made the 911 call after another neighbor heard the woman struggling with the two suspects.

Those men were wearing dark clothes when they took off in a waiting car similar to a 1990 gold-colored Nissan Pathfinder. As they were speeding away they struck a dumpster.

SUV parts left behind helped police identify the type of vehicle.

"They knocked off the side mirror. It was there lying in the alley when they took off," said Lal.

Police said the Pathfinder has damage to the left side and is missing the driver's side mirror.

Neighbors said they are watching out for each other.

"You have to be extremely careful. I won't allow my wife and kids to go out at night," said Lal. "Because of this event, so scary and so dramatic, we decided to get surveillance equipment for the house."

Police believe the attack is an isolated case.
