BYERS, Colo. (CBS4) – An alleged armed bank robber is in custody after ignoring sheriff’s deputies’ requests for 12 hours during a standoff Monday night.
Police say Timothy Richards, 43, stole between $10,000 and $15,000 from a bank in Strasburg.
Deputies caught up with him a few miles down the road in the town of Byers.
Snipers crouched on nearby rooftops as the man hid under a trailer.
Authorities turned off lights in the area and used flashbangs and gas to force the man to surrender.
He was taken to the Arapahoe County Detention Facility.
