Evergreen Residents Excited To See First Snow Of Season

EVERGREEN, Colo. (CBS4) - Residents of Evergreen welcomed the three inches or so of snow that fell early Friday morning.

The flooding in September affected the area somewhat, but most people said they weren't worried about what the additional moisture might bring, especially in Upper Bear Canyon.

"The creek's not all the way down but it's quite a ways down," said Jerry Berk, who lives in the canyon. "I don't think this little bit of snow is going to hurt anything so I'm fine to have some snow coming down."

Plenty of Evergreen residents were happy to welcome the snow. Lauri Stricker was out with her 2-year-old son.

"The kids are thrilled to see the snow. They could hardly wait to get their snowboots out and be outside playing in it today," she said.

"It's magnificent, it's gorgeous, we are reveling in it."

While snowplows were spotted, there really wasn't enough to keep anyone in the foothills community inside.

"Snow tiring sets in by the end of winter, but the first snow of the season always looks so pretty so that's nice," Berk said.
