Anti-Gang Activist Terrance Roberts Formally Charged With Attempted Murder
DENVER (CBS4) - A Denver anti-gang activist has been formally charged with attempted murder following a shooting in the parking lot of a community center.
District Attorney Mitch Morrissey charged Terrance Roberts on Tuesday with attempted murder, assault and illegal possession of a weapon in connection with the shooting on Sept. 20 in the Park Hill neighborhood.
Police say Roberts shot and wounded Hasan Jones, 22, during a community rally that Roberts helped organize.
Roberts is a former gang member and has since worked to help mentor at-risk children. He says he shot Jones in self-defense.
