Texas Red Cross Workers Will Provide Aid In Colorado

DALLAS (AP) – American Red Cross workers in North Texas are en route to Colorado to help with the massive relief effort in a state beset by deadly flooding that’s displaced thousands of people.

Anita Foster, spokeswoman for the Red Cross in North Texas, says 19 volunteers left Monday. Many of them are nurses while others will manage shelters for those fleeing raging floodwaters. Foster says other volunteers will assess damage in neighborhoods to determine how busy Red Cross shelters may be and how many meals and other supplies must be provided.

She says volunteers in South Texas were poised to also depart for Colorado but will stay for now to see what damage Tropical Storm Ingrid may bring.
