COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. (AP/CBS4) – Authorities are investigating the shooting death of a pregnant woman at a Colorado Springs apartment complex.
Police spokeswoman Barbara Miller says officers were called to the Summit Apartments in the southeastern part of the city Monday morning and found the woman with multiple gunshot wounds. The woman died at a nearby hospital, but doctors were able to deliver her baby, which was in critical condition Monday afternoon.
“The firefighter-paramedic, believing the woman was in danger, heroically dragged her to a safe location while performing life-saving measures,” the Colorado Springs Police Department said in a statement.
Police used a robot to search the apartment complex for a suspect, but no one was found. The victim’s name has not been released, and police do not have a description of the suspect.
