Denver Police Investigating Attempted Kidnapping Of Woman

DENVER (CBS4) - Denver police are investigating an attempted kidnapping that occurred on Sunday night.

According to police, at approximately 8:30 p.m. officers responded to the 700 Block of South Corona Street on a report of an attempted kidnapping.

"Officers contacted the adult female victim who stated that she was running eastbound on East Ohio Avenue when she was grabbed by an unknown suspect and pulled into the Corona-Ogden alley," police said in a statement. "The suspect covered the victim's mouth and dragged her into the alley."

The woman fought off the suspect and sprayed him with pepper spray. She then ran to a nearby house and called 911. The suspect fled the area.

"She was very upset, very distraught and our hearts bled for her. We wanted to help her as fast as we could," said Brad Emerick, who opened his door to the woman. "She was able to get through or over that fence and get to our door and get in."

The suspect is described as a male of an unknown race and possibly 5-foot-5. He was wearing a long sleeved shirt and possibly a dark skull cap.

"Good for her. She fought and she tagged the guy with pepper spray and that gave her time to get away," Emerick said.
