Longmont Couple In Murder, Attempted Suicide Identified

LONGMONT, Colo. (CBS4)– The couple involved in a murder-attempted suicide in Longmont on Thursday has been identified.

Judith Ecker, 72, was shot to death in an apartment at the Victoria Inn Apartments on 17th Ave. in Longmont on Thursday.

Police said they received a phone call from an 80-year-old man that he had just shot his wife. That man has been identified as Raymond Ecker.

Raymond than told police he was going to turn the gun on himself.

When police arrived they found Judith had been shot to death. Raymond was rushed to the hospital. He remained in critical condition on Friday afternoon.

Police have not released details on what may have led to the shooting.

Neighbors told CBS4 they were shocked to learn what happened.
