Mothers Mobilize To Learn More About Fracking Near Schools

BROOMFIELD, Colo. (CBS4)- A group of mothers has mobilized to learn more about fracking near their children's schools.

The group is called "Colorado Moms Know Best."

The mothers claim there are fracking operations less than 1,000 feet from schools in Broomfield.

Now they're informing other mothers about fracking wells by drawing up maps and plotting each oil fracking operation.

"I am here as a mom, a working mom, I want to know that they have clean air, clean water and that they're safe," said one mother.

Hydraulic fracking uses chemicals, water and sand to extract oil from the ground. The oil industry claims the practice is safe.
