Prisoner Escapes From Minimum Security Facility Near Canon City

CANON CITY, Colo. (CBS4) – An inmate is on the lose following an escape from the Skyline Correctional Center near Canon City.

Skyline is a minimum security facility on the East Canon Prison Complex. Officials with the Colorado Department of Corrections said Jerry Chase wasn’t at the 5 a.m. head count there on Wednesday morning.

Chase is 65 and is serving 12 years for for stalking and harassment out of Grand County.

Officials said a special operations team is searching for Chase.

Chase is elligible for parole in October.

Colorado Department of Corrections released the following statements about Chase’s escape:

Chase is a white male, 6’00” height, 180 pounds, with bald head and thinning blonde hair on the sides of his head. … The public is asked to avoid contact with the escapee and to notify local law enforcement of any contact or sightings.
