Good News For Firefighter Who Lost Wedding Ring Fighting Black Forest Fire

COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. (CBS4) - A firefighter who helped battle the Black Forest Fire lost a treasure of his own while protecting precious possessions of others.

Ian Hass lost his wedding ring at some point while he was taking his gloves on and off. A fellow firefighter wanted to make sure he'd get a new one.

With a donation from a local jewelry store along with funds raised by a nonprofit, Hass got a new one on Wednesday.

"It's trying times for my wife and myself," Hass said. "She had to quit her job just recently because of a health problem, so very emotional getting a new ring, very nice," Hass said.

Haas and his wife will be celebrating their 4-year anniversary this month.
