Fire Damages Railroad Bridge In Arapahoe County
ARAPAHOE COUNTY, Colo. (CBS4)- A small fire broke out on a railroad bridge in Arapahoe County on Wednesday morning which will keep the tracks closed for two days.
The fire caused so much damage to the bridge about one mile west of Byers that it will have to be replaced.
Copter4 flew over the fire just before 7 a.m. where it was letting off a lot of smoke.
The fire was fully extinguished Wednesday morning. What started that fire is being investigated.
The track is the main line for Union Pacific between Denver and Kansas City. That portion has been shut down until engineers can inspect the damage.
The line carries between eight to 10 trains a day. During repairs those trains will be detoured to other tracks.
