Police Arrest 'Handyman' Suspected Of Burglaries

DENVER (AP) — Weld County sheriff officials say they arrested a man suspected of posing as a handyman and burglarizing homes.

Deputies arrested Jesus Alejandro Portillo-Diaz, who they suspect of driving into rural, remote properties and farm houses in unincorporated parts of the county and handing out handyman fliers. The sheriff's office said Friday the arrest happened Thursday after several homes were burglarized.

Authorities suspect Portillo-Diaz of taking blank checks, banking information, jewelry, and laptops. The sheriff's office says he got into homes by breaking windows or glass doors.
