Grand Junction Man Charged With Meeting Chicago Girl For Sex

CHICAGO (AP) - A Colorado man is facing multiple sexual assault charges in Illinois.

The office of Cook County State's Attorney Anita Alvarez contends 31-year-old Christopher Plouffe traveled from Grand Junction to Chicago to have sex with a 15-year-old girl. Charges against Plouffe include aggravated criminal sexual abuse, indecent solicitation of a child, and traveling to meet a minor.

Prosecutors say Plouffe met the victim on an online gambling site in late 2011. They met in a hotel room the following February, before the victim's relatives notified police.

Plouffe was arrested on Aug. 6, and appeared Thursday in Cook County Circuit Court in Chicago. A judge set his bond at $1 million.

Plouffe's next court date is Sept. 11. It wasn't immediately known if he has a lawyer.
