ROCKIES 9, BLUE JAYS 5: Carlos Gonzalez homered to help the Rockies beat the Blue Jays (Watch Highlights)

Alleged Serial Robber Charged

DENVER (CBS4)– A man suspected in a series of armed robberies including several at the same location has been formally charged.

Jonaphar Johnson has been charged with eight counts of kidnapping and four counts of aggravated robbery.

The charges allege that Johnson, 28, robbed an Auto Zone store on East Colfax Ave. on July 29. He also allegedly held four employees at gunpoint and stole an undisclosed amount of money.

Additional charges are likely because Johnson is a suspect in numerous other similar robberies in Denver and Aurora dating back more than a year.

Johnson remains in custody with a bond set at $50,000. He is scheduled to appear in Denver County Court for a preliminary hearing on Sept. 3.
