Outdoors Lovers Celebrate As 2 Cabela's Open Their Doors

LONE TREE, Colo. (CBS4) - The much-anticipated outdoor outfitters store Cabela's opened their doors to crowds in two different Colorado communities on Thursday morning.

Some people camped out overnight to be among the first in the new stores.

The two large stores are located in Lone Tree and Thornton and they are the first on Colorado's Front Range.

Some people brought tents to the parking lots of the stores and were lined up down the street.

"It's Cabela's. There's nothing quite like it. Just the selection, everything that's here," one customer told CBS4.

"It's just a total experience," another customer said. "You can see different game mounts from all over the world."

Metro State University of Denver marketing Professor Darrin Duber-Smith told CBS4 that adding the two stores is going to make for a very competive market for outdoor sporting goods in the area.

"We're probably going to see some shake up. It's great for prices, great for selection. This is all great for consumers. They aren't the kind of high paying jobs we want to see here in Colorado but certainly any job is a good job at this point," said Duber-Smith. "I think there are many reasons to cheer this develpment."

Cabela's is based in Sidney, Neb. The Thornton store is located at 14050 Lincoln St., (off 144th Avenue and Interstate 25) and the Lone Tree store is located at 10670 Cabela Drive (off Ridgegate Parkway and I-25).
