CSU Officially Opens Up Football Camp

FORT COLLINS, Colo. (CBS4) - Colorado State University Rams opened camp Tuesday and they have some work to do.

It's a team that went 4-8 last year and finished seventh in the 10-team Mountain West Conference.

Rams fans can at least hang their hat on the fact they beat the CU Buffs last year, but other than that there hasn't been a lot to cheer about in Fort Collins.

Fans can feel as bad as they want, but head coach Jim McElwain says he feels worse.

"Nobody had more a miserable offseason than the guy sitting right here behind this mic knowing that we only had only four wins last year," McElwain said. "I'd be the first to admit it -- my wife can admit it to you -- you know, I wasn't just a lot of fun to be around all year; but part of that is, it's part of the responsibility of building a winning program, a winning tradition, and that's what we're bound to do."

The Rams open up the season against the Buffs in the Rocky Mountain Showdown at Sports Authority Field at Mile High on Saturday, Sept. 1.
