Colorado Latino Leaders Call To Make Changes To Immigration Policy

COMMERCE CITY, Colo. (CBS4) - Latino community leaders and small business owners are asking people to support a "Buy-Cott" and shop only at businesses that support immigration reform.

The Buy-Cott campaign runs Aug. 4 through Aug.10 and is a chance for Coloradans to vote with their wallet in support of a comprehensive immigration reform bill.

On Sunday a standing-room-only crowd told Rep. Mike Coffman immigration reform must come now.

"Working people, they want to be part of this country, they're willing to fight for this country," a woman said.

"I think we have people on the right and the left. There are people on the right who say, 'I'm not going to support anything.' And then are people on the left who say, 'Unless it has everything I'm not going to support it,' " Coffman said.

Coffman addressed the mostly Spanish-speaking crowd with prepared remarks in their own language. He says he will work to encourage other Republicans to support immigration reform bills.
