Lakewood Police Search For Sexually Violent Predator

LAKEWOOD, Colo. (CBS4)- Police in Lakewood are searching for a sexually violent predator after he failed to register his address with police.

Nick R. Medina was released from the Colorado Department of Corrections in mid-June.

Due to his sexually violent predator status Medina was required by law to register with the Lakewood Police Department and provide a permanent address where he would be staying.

On approximately June 13 Medina, 38, indicated that he would be living at 5601 W. Colfax Ave. #7.

As standard operating procedure, Lakewood police agents frequently check on sex offenders including SVPs to confirm they are in fact living at the address they are registered to.

Earlier this month a random check of Medina's address found that he had left without notifying authorities. He has not been seen or accounted for since.

Medina's original crime and conviction was for sexual assault on a child. He has also been known to be involved in local gang activity.

There are two warrants for Medina's arrest.

The Lakewood Police Department is asking anyone who sees, has information about, or may know the whereabouts of Medina to call their local police or the Lakewood police at 303-987-7111.

Medina is considered to be dangerous and the public should not attempt to contact him.
