Democrat Signs On To Challenge Lamborn
COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. (AP) — A retired Air Force major general is signing on to challenge Rep. Doug Lamborn in Colorado's most heavily Republican congressional district.
Irv Halter announced Wednesday that he will challenge Lamborn, who is a four-term incumbent. Lamborn represents the 5th Congressional District centered in Colorado Springs.
Halter served 32 years in the U.S Air Force before retiring in 2009. It is his first run for political office.
The Democrat faces a tough challenge. Republicans hold a large registration advantage in the 5th District, which has been in GOP control since its creation.
