Man Accused Of Dismembering Mother Pleads Insanity

CENTENNIAL, Colo. (CBS4)- The man accused of murdering and dismembering his mother pleaded not guilty by reason of insanity on Monday.

Investigators in Arapahoe County said Ari Misha Liggett, 24, poisoned his mother, Beverly Liggett, in their home in Centennial last October. Then they believe he cut up her body.

Liggett told investigators his mother had recently left him out of her will. He originally told the interviewing officers he had found his mother dead in the living room after she committed suicide.

Investigators found the dismembered remains of a deceased adult female in the back seat of the vehicle that was driven by Liggett. Those remains were positively identified as those of Beverly.

During the investigation of the house they also found traces of blood in the freezer and bathtub.

Liggett's father said his son has a history of mental health issues. The court ordered a mental evaluation by the state hospital that will take place at the Arapahoe County Jail.
