Cans Of Beer Litter Highway After Beer Truck Overturns

WHEAT RIDGE, Colo. (CBS4)- A semi truck hauling beer overturned Thursday spilling thousands of cans of beer. That kept the Highway 58 ramp to Interstate 70 for several hours during cleanup.

The semi overturned about 7:20 p.m. Thursday. It took several hours to cleanup the massive amounts of beer and remove the crashed semi.

The ramp was finally reopened just before midnight.

Crews removing the semi suffered a setback when they tried to remove the truck. The overturned trailer collapsed during cleanup. That kept the highway closed for an additional two hours.

The driver was not injured in the rollover. He has been cited for careless driving.

What caused the accident is being investigated.

It appears the beer was Coors Light. Thousands of silver cans littered the highway after they broke out of their cardboard cases. Some of the beer spilled onto the pavement and puddled up.
