Scissors Attack Suspect To Appear In Court

BOULDER, Colo. (CBS4)- A convicted murderer will appear in court Wednesday afternoon after he was arrested and accused of attacking a young man with scissors.

Police in Longmont arrested Roy Gene Seagraves early Thursday morning after police received a tip that he was at a trailer park.

Seagraves appeared in court on Monday where the judge set his bond at $2 million.

Seagraves was taken into custody just over a week after police released a sketch of the suspect in the June 15 attack.

That day, a couple was walking near 13th and Spruce in downtown Boulder, just a block from the Pearl Street Mall, when someone put a pair of scissors to the man's throat without any provocation.

The victim was able to wrestle the weapon away and provide a description for police of what his attacker looked like.

Someone identified him as Roy Seagraves, the same man convicted in 2001 of stabbing Gary Stoner to death in 1982. Stoner was stabbed 63 times in the neck and head in an apartment in Boulder.

Seagraves reached a plea deal for that crime and was sent away for 12 years. Under prison rules he was released with credit after serving half his sentence.

Seagraves remains in custody for investigation of attempted murder for the June 15 attack.

He also has other criminal history that includes violation of a protection order, drug possession, trespassing and assault.

Seagraves was also arrested for allegedly stabbing someone in 2007 but ultimately pleaded guilty to a felony drug charge.
