GREELEY, Colo. (CBS4) – A man has been arrested for alleged attempted sexual exploitation on a child.
Sgt. Susan West with the Greeley Police Department said Brian Robert Heinrich, 37, was arrested on charges of attempted sexual assault on a child and attempted sexual exploitation of a child on Tuesday.
The investigation began June 10 after a Homeland Security Investigations special agent responded to a suspicious Internet posting.
“The agent exchanged several emails with the poster over the next 10 days during which the poster, later determined to be Heinrich, indicated he was interested in traveling to Greeley to have sex with a 6-year-old male,” West said in a statement.
Heinrich was taken into custody after meeting an undercover officer who he thought would lead him to meet the child. Police said he had camera equipment with him that they believe he intended to use to record the encounter.
Heinrich is being held at the Weld County Jail.
